Santuario Cerro Poqui
Infrastructure, wayfinding, and environmental interpretation project developed in collaboration with the Cerro Poqui Nature Sanctuary, a protected natural area located in the O’Higgins Region of Chile. Conceived within the academic studio Design and Landscape, the proposal seeks to strengthen the relationship between visitors and the territory through a system of spatial interventions that support conservation, education, and public engagement.
Set within a sensitive ecosystem of native forests, waterways, and endemic species, the project responds to the challenges associated with increasing visitation. Through infrastructure, environmental signage, interpretive panels, and territorial markers, the proposal promotes a deeper understanding of the sanctuary’s ecological value while encouraging more responsible interactions with the landscape.
The project encourages visitors to read the landscape through its ecological, cultural, and territorial layers, transforming orientation and interpretation into tools for environmental awareness. It received a 2024 Chile Design Award in the Academic Spatial Design category and was selected as a finalist at the 2022 Latin American Design Awards.
