Centro Cultural La Moneda — Wayfinding System
Wayfinding system design for Centro Cultural La Moneda, one of Chile’s leading cultural institutions, located beneath the civic heart of Santiago and home to a diverse program of exhibitions, public events, educational activities, and cultural services.
The project addresses the challenges of orientation and navigation within a large-scale cultural facility characterized by multiple access points, underground circulation, and constantly changing exhibition programs. Rather than treating signage as a layer of information, the proposal approaches wayfinding as a cognitive and spatial system that shapes how visitors read, navigate, and understand the building.
Through the integration of environmental graphics, spatial cues, and information hierarchies, the proposal clarifies relationships between spaces, programs, and services, enabling visitors to move through the institution with greater confidence and autonomy. By improving legibility and reducing cognitive load, the project positions wayfinding as an essential infrastructure for public access and cultural participation.
