La resistencia de una espora
Exhibition design for La Resistencia de una Espora. Museo de la Solidaridad vuelve a GAM, a project that revisits the cultural aspirations of Chile’s Popular Unity period and the shared history of the Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende and the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center.
Marking fifty years since the 1973 coup d’état, the exhibition brings together artworks, archival materials, and audiovisual records to explore the affective bonds, cultural networks, and collective ambitions that shaped the museum’s founding. Through the recovery of works that were dispersed, lost, or removed following the coup, the project positions memory as an active process of reconstruction rather than a fixed historical account.
The exhibition design articulates artworks, documents, and testimonies within a spatial framework that encourages reflection on cultural solidarity, democratic participation, and the relationship between art and public life. As part of the proposal, artwork shipping crates are repurposed as exhibition furniture and display structures, transforming objects marked by transport and storage into material witnesses of the collection’s history.
